The Integration exam in Russian as a foreign language, the history of Russia, and the fundamentals of legislation of the Russian Federation comprises 3 modules:
- Russian as a foreign language
- The history of Russia
- The fundamentals of legislation of the Russian Federation
Module ‘Russian as a foreign language’ consists of 5 subtests:
- Vocabulary & Grammar
- Reading
- Listening
- Writing
- Speaking
Modules ‘The history of Russia’ and ‘The fundamentals of legislation of the Russian Federation’ have one subtest.
To prepare for the Integration exam in Russian as a foreign language, the history of Russia, and the fundamentals of legislation of the Russian Federation, candidates may attend free classes ‘The Migrant School’ where they can learn about the exam procedure and take a mock test. Candidates will also learn about the key dates and important events in the history of Russia, legislative acts regulating migration in the Russian Federation, as well as terms and concepts used in the Integration exam.
‘The Migrant School’ classes for foreign nationals who plan to take the Integration exam in Russian as a foreign language, the history of Russia and the fundamentals of legislation of the Russian Federation are held every Tuesday starting at 5 pm at: 11, Lieutenant Schmidt Emb, room 210.

Preparation for the Test of Russian as a Foreign Language (TORFL)
The Test of Russian as a Foreign Language (TORFL) consists of the following subtests:
- Writing
- Vocabulary & Grammar
- Reading
- Listening
- Speaking
To prepare for the Test in Russian as a Foreign Language, candidates may download a sample test of the appropriate level and / or contact the Dean’s office of the Institute of Russian language and Culture at St Petersburg University for detailed information about preparation courses for international students.
