HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, “汉语水平考试”, Chinese Proficiency Test)
HSK (汉语水平考试,Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) is an international standardised test of Chinese language proficiency for non-native speakers.
HSKK(汉语水平口语考试,Hanyu Shuiping Kouyu Kaoshi) is an international test Chinese Proficiency Speaking Test for non-native speakers.
The test was developed by the China National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, an agency of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and the HSK Center of Beijing Language and Culture University. It assesses the level of Chinese language proficiency for day-to-day, educational and professional purposes. The HSK test has been conducted internationally since 1992.
Why take Chinese proficiency test?
The test is designed to assess the Chinese language proficiency of non-native speakers (including foreigners, overseas ethnic Chinese and students from Chinese national minorities). Attaining a Chinese language proficiency certificate facilitates:
- enrolment / admission to educational institutions of China;
- participation in scholarship competition to finance internships in China
- employment with Chinese, Russian-Chinese joint-venture companies, or Russian organisations that cooperate with China;
- skill upgrade and confidence in Chinese language skills.
Exam format
HSK (written test)
HSK consists of 6 levels: HSK1, HSK2, HSK3, HSK4, HSK5, and HSK6. HSK1 is the lowest level in terms of ability and HSK6 is the highest. The tests are made up of two or three sections depending on the level. Each section is broken down into a number of questions. Test-takers must achieve at least 60% of total score to pass the test.

Speaking test (HSKK)
HSKK only consists of 3 levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. The exam structure depends on the level.

*Additionally, you will be charged a 1,000-rouble registration fee by the Language Testing Centre at St Petersburg University for processing documents, checking and packaging exam materials for shipping, consulting services and live webinars for the candidates. This additional fee will be included in the cost of the exam.
Registration
Please note that HSK and HSKK are two different exams. If you plan to take both exams in one day, you will need to register for these exams separately.
