How to register for an exam?

To register for Cambridge English exams at the Language Testing Centre at St Petersburg University you will need to email us at: This email address is being protected from spambots. What exam to take?

First you will need to select the Cambridge English exam you want to take. To find out what level you have, you can take a Cambridge English Placement Test developed by Cambridge Assessment English. For registration, please contact the Language Testing Centre at St Petersburg University.

Pre A1 Starters

At Pre A1 level, young children can already understand basic English content on the internet and enjoy books, songs, television and films in English.

A1 Movers

At A1 Movers level, young children can read and understand basic instructions and also take part in simple conversations.

A2 Flyers

At A2 Flyers level, children can write and understand simple written English texts and communicate in familiar situations.

A2 Key for Schools

A2 Key for Schools is designed to confirm that a learner can use English to communicate in simple situations. This exam is for those who have recently started learning English.

B1 Preliminary for Schools

B1 Preliminary for Schools is designed for those who has mastered the basics of English and now has practical language skills for everyday use. B1 Preliminary for Schools is an intermediate level qualification confirming that a student can: read simple texts in English; write letters and emails on everyday subjects; and understand factual information. It is targeted at the same CEFR level as B1 Preliminary but with content aimed at school-age learners rather than adults. The certificate does not have an expiry date.

B2 First for Schools

B2 First for Schools is an examination at upper-intermediate level. Taking a B2 exam is a great way to prepare for higher-level exams, to acquire English language skills you need to communicate in an English-speaking environment and improve all four main language skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking. B2 First for Schools is specifically designed to give confidence and motivate children to learn. B2 First for Schools is targeted at the same CEFR level as B2 First but with content and topics aimed at school-age learners rather than adults.

B2 First

B2 First confirms English language competence at upper-intermediate level, necessary to communicate effectively in an English-speaking environment. This qualification proves that you have the language skills to live and work independently or study on courses taught in English. A B2 First certificate is often required for admission to colleges and universities in English-speaking countries and for employment overseas.

C1 Advanced

C1 Advanced is the in-depth, high-level qualification that proves that a candidate has reached an advanced level of English required in demanding academic and professional settings. This qualification is commonly demanded for executive positions at international organisations overseas. More than 9,000 educational institutions, businesses and government departments around the world accept C1 Advanced as proof of high-level achievement in learning English. This qualification opens doors to international travel, work and study and helps in developing skills that employers and universities are looking for. A C1 Advanced certificate is also accepted as evidence of English language proficiency for student visa applications to Great Britain and Australia.

C2 Proficiency

C2 Proficiency is the highest-level qualification that shows the world that you have mastered English to an exceptional level. It opens doors to study in postgraduate or PhD programmes, work at senior management positions in international business settings and conduct business on a global scale!

B1 Business Preliminary

This qualification shows that you have mastered the basics of business English. B1 Business Preliminary is the first of Cambridge English Qualifications for business, confirming that a candidate has an intermediate level of English for practical, everyday use in business. A B1 Business Preliminary certificate shows that you can: talk about business subjects; understand charts and graphs; write short business emails; and follow short telephone conversations. This qualification is recommended for candidates aged 16+, who need English for the workplace and future career.

В2 Business Vantage

This qualification will help you when applying for a new job, getting a promotion or for professional development and career growth. B2 Business Vantage is an examination at upper-intermediate level, targeted at the same CEFR level as B2 First but with content and topics based on everyday work and business tasks. A B2 Business Vantage certificate shows that you can understand complex texts, presentations and articles from business publications. It confirms that a candidate has business English skills required for: communication at the workplace; interacting with customers; participating in meetings; and writing emails and business letters.

C1 Business Higher

This qualification gives you the practical language skills you need to operate confidently at a senior level in global business. C1 Business Higher is an examination at advanced level, targeted at the same CEFR level as C1 Advanced but with a particular focus on business English. A C1 Business Higher certificate shows that you can: express yourself with a high level of fluency; participate in seminars and discussions; write business letters and reports; and effectively negotiate in English. This qualification is typically selected by candidates preparing for a career in an international business or English-speaking workplace environment. This qualification is accepted by the majority of British universities for MBA admission. C1 Business Higher certificates holders are highly sought-after on the job market.

TKT is a series of modular teaching qualifications which test your knowledge in specific areas of English language teaching. There are three core modules – Module 1, Module 2, and Module 3 – that can be taken in any order or combination.
